Life and its challenges

Today was one of the busiest and most stressful days in my life. I felt like none of my prayers had been answered and that I was lost and alone. I had people around me, yes, but I felt so lost. Tomorrow will be another stressful day in my life but I am going to stay strong. The JJ Heller song “Your hands” has been such a blessing. It reminded me that things don’t always go to our plan yet God is there holding us in the midst of our sufferings. He hates to see us sad too. I am one of the most blessed girls in the world. I have a family that I love and that love me just as I am, albeit very flawed.  I am blessed that I have such a wonderful support network. I am even more blessed that my family gave me a faith and a knowledge of God. I don’t feel alone when I have God. I may have very little money but I have my family and I have my faith and that in itself is one of the best things in the world. Here is the lyrics to the song Your hands. I really think you should listen to it. It is an amazing song.

Keep me in your prayers.

I have unanswered prayers

I have trouble I wish wasn’t there

And I have asked a thousand ways

That you would take my pain away

You would take my pain away

I am trying to understand

How to walk this weary land

Make straight the paths that crooked lie

Oh Lord, before these feet of mine

Oh Lord, before these feet of mine

When my world is shaking, heaven stands

When my heart is breaking

I never leave your hands

When you walked upon the earth

You healed the broken, lost and hurt

I know you hate to see me cry

One day you will set all things right

Yeah, one day you will set all things right

When my world is shaking, heaven stands

When my heart is breaking

I never leave your hands

Your hands that shaped the world

Are holding me

They hold me still

Your hands that shaped the world

Are holding me

They hold me still

When my world is shaking, heaven stands

When my heart is breaking

I never leave you

When my world is shaking, heaven stands

When my heart is breaking

I never leave

I never leave your hands

A few thoughts on The knots prayer

I was given the prayer below before I sat my final exams a few years ago. I found it deeply moving and so accurate. We are all burdened with knots of some description and how often do we say, “I can’t!” “I’m not” etc?  The answer  to the knots is said in this prayer. Today as I reflect on it I realise that I must learn to curb any unnecessary negativity that comes my way. God doesn’t want us consumed and eaten up with regret, worry and fear. He wants us to be happy, we are told so many times in the Bible not to worry and yet what do we do.  My prayer for today  is that we all live a life that is happy.

Anyhow that’s my thoughts for the day.

Have a lovely sunday.

Dee.

Dear God:

Please untie the knots

that are in my mind,

my heart and my life.

Remove the have nots,

the can nots and the do nots

that I have in my mind.

Erase the will nots,

may nots,

might nots that may find

a home in my heart.

Release me from the could nots,

would nots and

should nots that obstruct my life.

And most of all,

Dear God,

I ask that you remove from my mind,

my heart and my life all of the ‘am nots’

that I have allowed to hold me back,

especially the thought

that I am not good enough.

AMEN

The Serenity prayer

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.
Amen.

My first post is inspired by this beautiful prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr, an American theologian. I am intrigued by this prayer as so often only the first half is discussed and the second half is not used. The second half is also beautiful as it is about living our daily lives one day at a time and facing the realities of life like Jesus did. This prayer is about following God’s plan and God’s will and  realizing that sometimes that is very difficult for us as we all have our own hopes and dreams and desires. We must trust God however and follow, trust, and accept His plan.
